Tips: for Secondary Behavior Management

  1. Set classroom routines and standards and communicate these to students.
  2. Monitor compliance of standards and rules by teaching and reinforcing them.
  3. Preplan instruction, anticipating students' needs for materials, assistance, and movement.
  4. Develop accountability systems to keep track of students' progress and develop students' self-control and self-evaluative skills.
  5. Use evidence-based practices in the classroom.
  6. Strive to interact positively with every student every day.
  7. Don't allow small misbehaviors to continue or escalate.
  8. Recognize that not all of your students will have the same abilities or backgrounds.
  9. Plan and teach lessons that are focused around a clearly-stated objective that is published for your students.
  10. Have a clearly defined and consistent classroom behavior plan.
